Building specialist, Michael Christie brings the Paal office to Canberra

Paal Kit Homes has been helping people realise their homebuilding dreams for over 50 years – and is now thrilled to announce the opening of their Canberra office, led by highly skilled housing consultant, Michael Christie.

The southern NSW region, including Canberra, has always been a strong sales area for Paal and continues to gain in strength. With Canberra’s rising building costs, families are looking further afield to areas such as Yass, Murrumbateman, Bungendore and Braidwood, purchasing small acreage sites, perfect for Paal designs. And the Paal easy-to-build system means that they can be involved and cut back on costs, with savings of up to $150,000 or more depending on the project size.

Having worked at Paal’s Sydney office for 27 years, Michael lives and breathes homebuilding. Originally a plumber from Harden (1.5 hours from Canberra), he successfully completed several kit homes before moving into the industry to help others to build with equal passion. “My building industry background, as well as my personal experience as a five times owner/builder, has given me a wealth of experience and understanding that enables me to assist and support our owner/builders through the process,” he says.

“Site visits with customers are a big part of my personal customer service and the most enjoyable. Of course, I can’t get to every customer’s site due to the tyranny of distance, however for the ones I can get to, usually up to 2.5 hours from the office, I’m able to assist these customers in finding the perfect spot to place the house – and whilst there, I also help assess their added On Site costs like sewer, power and slab.”

As a family-run business, Paal takes a personal approach from the moment customers make their initial enquiry. Michael is a constant source of advice, ideas and industry contacts, working alongside clients, adapting Paal’s flexible plans to suit their vision – a service that continues not just in the conception stage, but also throughout the entire process. “That’s the way the Paal system works,” says Michael. “Unlike other companies, we hold the customers hand from start to finish.”
